MEET THE ARTIST

Faye Young got into make up by accident. Her interest in the field started when she was invited to become a model in a school for aesthetics. Sometime in 2003, Faye started buying her own makeup and this is when she eventually met an artist who guided her about the system of applications and simple techniques. Due to certain circumstances, Faye eventually entered the wedding by becoming a wedding planner where she had a good start through referrals. By then, she thought of going full time but she couldn’t focus just yet because Faye was still employed at a pharmaceutical company as a sales representative. This is also the reason why she failed to pursue with her plan to enrol in Hong Kong. When Faye retired in 2006, she was able to give her full attention to doing makeup. Through her link with wedding websites and bridal organizers, Faye’s works

eventually became photographers’ apple of the eye.
It was going on well until a tragedy met her life when her husband passed away in 2009. After this, Faye got triple bookings when she focused herself and got busy with ads and marketing. This is where she found clients pouring in. In the same year, she got an invitation to teach traditional make-up techniques and airbrush in Kryolan. Up to now, Faye is an active mentor to other professional artists who chose the path of makeup.

Faye’s third gear was when she studied in Singapore at the Top to Toe Makeup College with David Willis of Studio Vida Los Angeles. This is where she upgraded her airbrush technique in the high definition and took special makeup effects. From this, Faye started travelling for makeup; she did works with clients in Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Sydney in 2011 to 2012. She moved on the her 4th gear when she met her personal idols in person such as Rae Morris, Jos Brands, Thomas Suprenant, Yolanda Baltram and Julie Tattam, who served as good inspirations and shared personal techniques and advices to Faye. Right now on her 5th gear, Faye dreams of putting up her own makeup academy where she wants to teach and share her makeup experiences here and abroad to other Filipino artists to “uplift” the quality of work and the art of beauty in the Philippines.
Airbrush makeup tops Faye’s forte as she’s been doing it since 2008. She tried it on different brands and determined what works well with the weather and the different skin types of clients. She also attended a few international master classes and learned different techniques which she uses now on weddings and photoshoots with airbrush in the demand of video and photography upgrades and she believes to be of the same calibre with their professional lenses.
As an artist, Faye always believed that the world and art of makeup is like the universe as it is endless. For her, the simple principles of studying, learning new techniques, and applying it is the key to growing as an artist. Currently, Faye is enhancing further body painting works and special makeup. These brought her to media heights and TV guestings. Faye is interested to take up another makeup diploma where she has a vision of a window of opportunity in film and international projects.
